Creating a new Transport Request

Go to the ticket you want to work on. Navigate to the Cross Connector and press the button New.

 

You are able to fill in the information related to the Transport Request:

  • Short description is mandatory.

    • Attention: You have the possibility to define your description template for all transport requests within the Visibility Settings of the Admin Panel.

  • Dev. System is mandatory and it will be populated with the development system registered in the admin panel.

  • CTS Project will be automatically informed based on the value of the field “Dev. System”.

  • Type of the Transport Request is also mandatory.

  • Owner is the mandatory SAP User Key that must exist in the System define on the field “Dev. System”.

  • You can add as many Tasks as it is needed when creating Transport Requests.

    • You will need to inform the SAP User Id of the users that you want to add as an employee in the Transport Request.

    • Attention: if the system fails to add a specific user informed in the Task field to the new Transport Request, no error message will be returned. The TR will be created without the wrong user.

After you created the Transport Request you will be able to see them (One for type Customizing and the other one for type Workbench) on the List.

Cross Connector Log

The Cross Connector also offers a Log section in order to see all the actions performed by the user. For this, navigate in your Jira Issue to Activity and click on Cross Connector Log. You will be able to see the Log of the Transport Request you just created.

Accessing Transport Requests in SAP

The Transport Request number is a clickable link that opens the TR in the SAP System.

This feature requires that the TRUSTED RFC is created between SAP Solution Manager and the Managed Systems, and all requirements for trusted connections must be fulfilled.

Note that deleted transport requests do not have this feature. This happens because the relevant TRs no longer exists in the Managed System.

Deleting a Transport Request

Select a Transport Request you want to delete and then press the button Delete. After this confirm that you want to delete it.

The Transport Request should now have the status Deleted. You can also check the Cross Connector Log and see that the Transport Request was deleted.

Note that you are only allowed to delete empty request. This means that if you do some customizing to the Transport Request on SAP side you will not be able to delete it on Jira side. You will get a message in the Cross Connector Log saying that the execution was failed.

Also, note that you cannot delete Transport Requests that are in final status such as released or deleted. If you try to do this you will get the following message.

Check deletion of Transport Request in SAP

In order to check that the Request was deleted, refresh the Transport Organizer in SAP and now the Transport Request that was deleted should not appear anymore.

Releasing a Transport Request

Select a Transport Request you want to release and then press the button Release. After this confirm that you want to release it.

To Release a transport Request can take long time. Therefore, a message showing if the process could be triggered in SAP will be shown.

After closing the message, you need to check the status of the Release function by Refreshing the Transport Request list:

  • The Status of the Transport Request will show if it was released or not

  • Check the log for more information or errors during the release process

Importing a Transport Request

Select the transport request you want to import in the follow up systems and press the button Import.

You will get a pop-up window where you can fill in the relevant information for the import of the transport request.

  1. Import System is mandatory and it will be populated with the follow up systems registered in the STMS transport routes.

  2. Start Date: You can choose to start the import immediately or you can schedule the import for a specific time.

  3. Import Options: You can select the needed import options for the transport request.

After you click on Import Transport you will get the notification if the import was triggered.

When the import in the test system(s) was executed the status of the transport changes into “Imported into Quality”.

After the transport is imported in all test systems you can select the production system and the status changes to Imported into Production.

If you click on the Info Button you can see all information of the transport.

 

Checking the import logs

When you click on the Info Button you can find all information of the transport request like release time, import time for each system and return codes.

 

Couple a Transport Request

In order to couple a transport request and press the button Couple.

Select the related Dev. System and enter the Transport ID(s).

The entered transport will now be shown in the transport list.

Decouple a Transport Request

Select the transport requests you want to decouple and press the button Decouple. After this confirm that you want to decouple it.

The Transport Request should now disappear from the transport list but you will be able to find the decoupled transport in the transport organizer.

 

Create and Import a Tranport of Copies

Select the transport requests for which you want to create a Transport of Copies and press the button Create ToC.

You will get a pop-up window where you can fill in the relevant information for the import of the ToC.

  1. Short description is not mandatory.

  • Attention: If the description is empty, it is automatically created according to the following scheme: [ToC] Transport Request Number: [Ticket Number] Ticket Title → Example: [ToC] SMEK903790: [CC5-22] Test CC5

  1. Import System is mandatory and it will be populated with the follow up systems registered in the STMS transport routes.

  2. Start Date: You can choose to start the import immediately or you can schedule the import for a specific time.

  3. Import Options: You can select the needed import options for the created ToC.

After you created the ToC you will be able to see them on the List. All ToCs are marked grey.

If you click on the Info Button you can see all information of the ToC.

Please Note: You can only create ToCs for modifiable transports.

Sort the transport list (Feature only available for Server)

You can sort the transport list when you click the Button Sort. Then arrows appear next to the transports which can be used to sort the transports

Executing Customer Actions

To perform a Customer Action in the Cross Connector select the Transport Requests to which the Customer Action should be performed, press the button Customer Action and confirm.

Chose the customer action you want to execute:

After this process is done an email will be sent according to the configuration of the Cross Connector:

You can also check that a Customer Action was performed in the Cross Connector log.

 

Important functionalities of the Cross Connector for TMS

These are other important functionalities that the Cross Connector for TMS offers.

Refresh button

Will check the SAP system and will update the Cross Connector with the most recent data.

Select/Deselect all

You can select or deselect all the Transport Requests on the list by clicking on the checkbox that is located under the button New.

Filter information on the list

The Cross Connector also includes a filter functionality located on the top on the list. You can filter different columns of the list at the same time to get the results you are looking for faster.
