What type of communication does the Cross Connector use?

All communications from Jira to SAP Solution Manager and SAP Solution Manager to Jira are done by HTTPS requests (ODATA, REST). This means that you have to setup HTTPS connection using the HTTPS ports of Jira and SAP Solution Manager. We need a host, a port and a technical user. The technical user is needed on both sides for the purpose of processing the incoming calls. There are no additional ports or protocols used. We are not forcing you to use any specific hosts or ports or users.

Your Jira or SAP Solution Manager instances are already using certain ports which can and should be re-used. Since hosts, ports and usernames can be different, we cannot tell you which are the right ones for your solution. We recommend you to login to Jira instance and/or SAP Solution Manager Web UI to find out the ports being used by the internet browser. Please have a look at the URL. Usually, the Cross Connector is using the same hosts and ports.

Please also note that your internal firewall rules might block the communication even if everything is configured correctly. In this case you must allow these interface connections or you have to use/setup a middleware like SAP CPI.
